Michael Blas Makio, AIA | LEED AP, is a Guam and Hawaii native and with extensive experience in managing design construction, and contract administration. As Principal Architect, Michael leads the Design and Sustainability divisions and TRMA+’s Practice management. Michael manages educational, commercial, retail, and airport projects for Guam International Airport Authority, Guam Community College, Public and Private Schools, and NAVFAC Design Build.
Since joining the firm in 1987, he has gained regional expertise and recognition for commercial, institutional and resort projects. Michael is a leader in Historic Preservation, Cultural & Environmental Resource Management, Smart Growth & Revitalization Planning and LEED Certification on Guam, the CNMI, and Hawaii.
Michael is the Chairman of the Guam Preservation Trust, Guam Historic Preservation Review Board, and Guam Seismic Advisory Council. Michael is a member of the US Green Building Council, National Trust for Historic Preservation and member and 2-time president of the AIA Guam and Micronesia Chapter.
